Shyamala Shodashanama Stotram

This is a short and powerful hymn of goddess Mantrini – Shyamala given in the seventeenth chapter of Lalitopakhyana of Brahmanda Purana. This hymn was taught to sage Agastya by Lord Hayagreeva. This hymn is comprised of sixteen names eulogizing various aspects of goddess Shyamala the primary minister of goddess Lalita.

The Phalashruti states that any being who recites these sixteen names, and praises shyamala, the chief of all counsellors and ministers, everything that is related to all three worlds certainly stands in his hand. (exists within his reach)

Goddess Shyamala is the tantric form of goddess saraswati, she is the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, intellect, arts, music and secret knowledge systems. She is also the mistress of the material nature. By her grace, the practitioner can attain both material pleasures and final liberation as she connects the devotee with the supreme goddess and make the devotee experience non duality.
