Twelve Names of Manasa

This hymn explains the meaning of twelve names of goddess manasa and then lists those twelve names in a particular order and then explains the merits of chanting these names.

This hymn is found in the brahmavaivarta purana and devi bhagavata purana. Chanting this hymn helps us gain protection from snakes and venomous creatures.

These names indicate the glories of goddess manasa, where possible I have cited shlokas from brahmavaivarta purana to further explain the meaning of the verses. The phalashruti says that chanting this hymn grants protection from snakes to the devotee, by chanting this regularly and perfecting the hymn by chanting it a million times, the devotee will become immune to weapons and poisons, snakes free on seeing him, he can subdue snakes and make them serve him and use them as ornaments, bed, seat etc. a devotee who perfects this hymn shall become a great siddha who has mastery over snakes, yogic powers.
